Meet our beekeepers, Chris Doukas and Evangelia Samartzi. They started in honey about 20 years ago, when a hive popped up in the chimney of his house one spring. With the guidance of his uncle, a beekeeper, they moved it into a wooden beehive. All started out as a hobby, but for 10 years after discovering this hive, Chris has been educating himself about beekeeping: he developed apiaries, joined a number of seminars, and practiced non-stop. This is how Olomelo was born, and this passion has powered it to what it is today!

Behind the name

Want to know where we got the name “Olomelo” for our honey? In our case, the name encompasses a lot more than just a word on a label. First of all, it’s about taste – each of our varieties is 100% complete, an immersive honey experience that is totally natural and packed with flavor. It also brings together all the good reviews our flavors received from the Great Taste judges. They mentioned, among many other things, that the distinctive taste is complex and enjoyable – what our honey is all about! And finally, “Olomelo” states that nature and life are thoroughly intertwined with bees, since they are responsible for the fruit and vegetables we eat.
